Palma is a cultural paradise in the heart of the Balearic Islands with which visitors from all over the world have fallen in love. A city full of art galleries, cultural centres, cinemas, museums, theatres and exceptional venues where you can enjoy a wide range of concerts.
Let’s begin!
The Baluard Museum has a collection that includes art from the 19th century through to the most contemporary works. A Renaissance-era fort adapted by the architect Santiago Calatrava which has become a symbol of the city. Another highlight is the Juan March Foundation, located in a majestic 17th-century building in the heart of the historic centre of Palma, which hosts temporary exhibitions and the most varied choice of cultural activities.
With regard to cultural centres, CaixaForum Palma is probably the most well known. It is located in the Gran Hotel in Plaza Weyler and has a permanent collection by the modernist artist Anglada-Camarasa. Travellers who prefer touring art galleries will also enjoy the Gallery Red with its prints by Warhol, the Casal Solleric on the Paseo del Borne or the Gerhard Braun gallery built within a magnificent and beautiful palace.

If you are passionate about cinema, we recommend you definitely check out CineCiutat, a cinema that had to close in 2012 but managed to reopen thanks to a citizens’ movement and is now the leading cinema for films in their original language, and one of the best in Europe for its cutting-edge movie choices.
There’s so much to see in this city, and we should not forget the music and theatre. Any time of the year is great for enjoying concerts and plays at Bellver Castle, the Parc de la Mar, the Cathedral, the Principal Theatre, the Auditorium or the Xesc Forteza Municipal Theatre.
If you are the type of traveller who feels you can’t really know a city until you discover its bookshops, Palma has a great choice of attractive options: from the modern and very lively Rata Corner to the iconic Drac Màgic and Agapea.
Palma is a city that receives many visitors in summer, but where everyone comes to enjoy themselves regardless of the time of year.
Culture is life, and Palma provides all the energy needed to sustain it.
